As a small organisation, we rely 100% on donations. Sponsors help us ensure regular "income", helping us to spend our time rescuing and caring for the animals, rather than scrambling for money (which is what Jo had to do for 20+ years).

What is the money used for?
Food
With 350+ animals to feed, food is the biggest bill. We buy kibbles to be given daily, and add fresh food when we can afford it.
Vet supplies & support
Whether it is to buy medication for the dogs in our shelter, perform surgery for the injured or sick ones, or neuter and spay, vet bills can be extremely expensive and unpredictable.
Shelter & bills
We have a few locations, with rents and utilities to pay. These are predictable monthly bills that can add up.
Workers
With the amount of work that has to be done every day, and the limited volunteer help we have, we need full-time workers to care for the animals.
Other
As much as we try to plan and predict spending, we are being called every day for many types of situations. We always assess whether we can afford to, and are able to receive new animals, but sometimes we just have to help. And it generates new unexpected spending.

How much is it to sponsor an animal?

The money I send, does it go directly and only to the animal I sponsor?
No, it would be impossible for us to track the money per animal. It goes into the bank account of the shelter, used for the running costs of the shelter. However, if this animal needs grooming, special care, vet, we will reach out to you to know if you would like to support them.

Can I visit the animal I sponsor?
We unfortunately don't have the manpower to organise visits (we would love to! but cannot with the current organisation). However, you are very welcome to join the volunteers for a shift, and focus on the well-being and care of "your" animal.

Does it mean I have to adopt?
No, it is like you are their godmother/ godfather, thinking about them from afar and supporting them. It does not mean you will adopt them.

How long does a sponsorship last?
As long as you can, and until the dog/cat is adopted, or RIP. We are very flexible with the length of sponsorship, and understand changes in life that would cause you to stop the sponsorship.

Can I be 100% sure to have monthly updates of my dog/cat?
Updates depend on volunteer availability. There will be months when there are more people on volunteer shifts, allowing us to take more content, and some quieter months. We thank you for your patience and encourage you to ask for updates from your sponsor manager.
